Pilgrim was privileged to headline sponsor this year’s Power Generation Gas Turbine User conference hosted by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium 28 to 29 November.
The event focused on the enhanced design, management, operation and maintenance of gas turbines.
Dr. Jared Kitchen presented Pilgrim’s recent research and developments in improved performance coupling bolt products with relaxed hole tolerances for gas turbines.
Many turbines are operating close to their coupling torque capacity and using conventional bolts with torque being transferred via friction only – resulting in coupling slippage, and long, expensive unplanned outages.
Pilgrim’s Radial Fit Bolts (RFBs) prevent slippage by transferring greater torque via shear as well as by friction. As gas turbines are becoming more powerful, the industry is in transition to RFBs, providing major reductions in downtime and end-user operating costs.
